Welcome to our family school where everyone matters, 'was lost but is found" Luke 15:11-32

After some of our school community had tragic family circumstances, we began our journey with Nelson's Journey. We have had training with Nelson's Journey and Tapping House and are trained to support children through grief and bereavement.
We have become a friend of Nelson's Journey through supporting them, raising the profile of the charity, raising money for them and encouraging children to lead activities related to managing emotions and death.
Last year, we had a purple picnic day. We all wore purple, had a purple raffle, created purple cake designs, guessed the name of a purple teddy and invited the ice cream van (supplied by Friends of Ingoldisthorpe PTA) for ice cream in the sun! Together, we raised £357 for Nelson's Journey.
One of the children, also used his knowledge of the charity to complete a afternoon of emotional learning and art activity with the year 5/6 class. They created salt memory jars with each colour of salt representing a memory or characteristic of a person who had died in their families. This afternoon was hugely successful and offered a great opportunity for all of the children.
We are committed to supporting this fabulous charity and our families to ensure that everyone thrives even in the trickiest of times.
