Welcome to our family school where everyone matters, 'was lost but is found" Luke 15:11-32
In Hazel Class we recognise the challenge of joining KS1 from Reception. We work hard to ensure that all children have a smooth transition with plenty of free choice time and engaging hands on activities before settling
into more formal learning.
In Hazel Class, we have two teachers and we work hard together to learn, achieve and grow. Mrs Taylor teaches us on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, then Mr Hazel has us for the rest of the week.
We focus on learning our maths skills and our phonics each day. We are growing with our reading knowledge and are heard read regularly to support our fluency. We spend time each day on speech and communication, including 'snack chat' where we chat about our day and any news while we have our snacks.

As we have a phonics assessment at the end of Year 1, we work on how to blend and segment words which are real and alien. We work hard to challenge ourselves and read words. Our phonics tests take place in June every year, we work hard to ensure the children show progress and achieve their best.

Mrs Taylor has a love of history and RE and we have learned lots of knowledge from her including famous women through history, our kings and queens as well as how things have changed over time. We have also learned lots about the Bible and enjoy reading it.

Mr Hazel has a love of sport and PE, using his many coaching qualifications he teaches us PE. He loves to teach us football, ball skills, gymnastics and support Miss Veale in teaching us dance. We love to learn and be active in our lessons with Mr Hazel.

In Hazel class, we love to laugh, learn , play, explore, get hands on, progress and achieve through a teacher led and engaging curriculum. We also love our class fish - all 6 of them!
