Spirituality is a broad human experience concerning a sense of connection to something larger than yourself. It encompasses the search for ultimate meaning, purpose, and a deeper understanding of the universe. It is a culture of questioning ourselves, the world and our place within it.
At Ingoldisthorpe C of E VA Primary School, we are a school where everyone is welcome and valued, where no-one is 'lost but found.' Luke 15:11-32 We use our values of adventure, perseverance and hope to think widely about the world, our faith and our place within it. We have a strong knowledge of ourselves, justice and how we should act - while still being able to effectively question our surroundings and the wider world.

We believe that asking questions and supporting each other in gaining knowledge is a vital part of our daily leanring. We reflect after every lesson and collective worship, to consider how our learning has posed a challenge to us, consider our own views and feelings and think about what leanring I can take away from it and how it will impact my day. We also reflect on how our learning can help and benefit others.
We use windows, mirrors and doors to help us reflect spiriutually within the school day.
We also spent time each week answering an I wonder question and answers are recorded in floor books (KS1) or in RE books (KS2.) During the I wonder sessions children are able to conisder a posed I wonder question and explain their answer with articualte thought and care. The children love the I wonder sessions and look forward to the discussion, debate and conversation from each one.
Spirituality is considered within our yearly calendar to give children spiritual experiences and dedicated opportunities to question and find their own voice. We have been spiritual on a Christianity around the world day (left photo album,) we have voted for a charity - WWF- and curated an art gallery. We also recognised our spirituality and our relationship with God, the world and our family at the church prayer space (right photo album.)

We have built in opportunities for questioning, reflection and discussion into our daily lessons and curriculum to ensure that our students are not only supportive, loving Christians - but thoughtful, considered and compassionate individuals with their own perosnailties and opinions.
